Some History Of Zeiss

Zeiss has been a pioneer in rifle scopes since 1904. The company has maintained it’s highly ranked position with new innovations and extremely high quality standards. Zeiss came out with 2 new rifle scopes in 1922. Both had variable magnification. They were the first rifle scopes to combine high magnification along with the highest twilight performance.

In 1990, they introduced the new inner mounting rail. It created a simple and rapid scope mounting feature. Also, introducing the Victory Varipoint model with a groundbreaking red dot targeting system for day and night use. It was a great success when it was launched in 1998.

The Victory HT rifle scope introduced in 2012 delivered groundbreaking light transmission of more than 95%.

Zeiss is known for their great glass, but this truly some of the best I have seen. I have two Leica Magnus and they are certainly on par, but the magnification range and clarity at range is what makes this scope outstanding. Highly recommended.

  1. Hello,
I am not a hunter but am looking to join a gun club to get my licence. Really enjoyed looking at your site of scopes, even though I am not a hunter (Yet 🙂 ) many of my family and friends are. The brand name Zeiss is very popular here in New Zealand and we can wait up to 6 weeks for our Hunting and Outdoor supplies to get stock in.
Of all the scopes you have listed which one would be your best pick and recommendation to a beginner starting out, to use and invest in? I quite like the Carl Zeiss Terra 2-7×32 Plex Rifle Scope as I would’nt be a serious contender in the hunting scene just a hobby.
    Thanks for the information 🙂

    • Hello Nadine,
Thanks for stopping by today. The Carl Zeiss Terra 2-7×32 Plex Rifle Scope should be a good fit for what you were wanting one for. If there is ever anything else I could help you with please let me know.

  2. I don’t really use firearms only air rifles and airsoft guns but I know Zeiss is probably the leading manufacturer of all optics. For my use they are a bit too expensive though. Could you recommend some good, yet affordable scopes for air rifles? I’ve used Camo rifles and I was wondering if their scopes are any good. For airsoft red dot sights are a lot more useful than magnifying scopes.

    • Thank You Jukka,
I am going to devote an article to airsoft scopes here soon. Yes the Zeiss scopes, even for airsoft would probbly be too expensive. I know what you are saying about the red dot sight. I will find some and put an article up about them. Thanks Again,

  3. I have an old .300 that has lever action. My dad used it for moose back in the day. It has a much older, from the 50’s scope.
What kind of improvements would I see from this older scope and how hard are they to sight in?

    • Thanks John, for your interest in these Zeiss scopes. I am sure you would see major improvements in clarity and accuracy both. These scopes are not hard to sight in, you can go to your local gun shop and have them bore sighted first. If you don’t have a gun shop close by, like I don’t it is still easy to get them very close without shooting. On the lever action or bolt action rifles that I have, I take the bolt out, make the gun stationary and look at the target through the barrel. Then gently raise your eye to look through the scope and set the crosshair (without moving the gun) on the target. If you have your rifle in a very stable gun vice or bagged this will let you set the scope with one shot. Replace the bolt and shoot the target, make sure the crosshairs are still on your center of target. If they are, then just set the crosshairs on the bullet hole. Your scope should be set perfect center.
